How Can I Study Free In Germany-Study Free In Germany From Nigeria. It is unknown to many Nigerians that education is free to international students willing to study in Germany in Public Universities. The 16 states in Germany, in 2014, declared studying in public institutions free, making it easier for both domestic and international students to study without paying tuition fees, but only a small administrative fee, charged per semester. This singular act, together with the fact that the country’s border is open to foreign students, has propelled the country into the top four on the list of most popular study destination. Apart from the exposure and the job opportunities, the free higher education, has no doubt been the major reason international students often choose Germany has their study abroad destination. However, there is a wide misconception that this opportunity is only extended to those that made first class or second class upper in their first degree. This is not true, as this opportunity is also for those not in the above stated categories.

Those eligible to benefit from Germany’s free tuition policy are:

For undergraduate studies

  • O’level holders ( also for foundation courses of about €8,000 for the duration nine months)
  • A’level holders

For postgraduate studies

  • First class holders
  • Second class (upper & lower divisions)
  • Third class ( for those hoping to study engineering and computer science)
  • OND and HND holders

N.B: During the visa application process, it is compulsory for any applicant willing to study in Germany to provide a block account with €8,650 deposit which he/she will be eligible to withdraw about €750 per month, or provide a financial letter from a relative living in Germany. This is to further prove your financial capability to fund living and other costs during your academic stay in the country.
